Dublin Bus anti-social behaviour reports steadily decreasing

DUBLIN BUS has stated that instances of anti-social behaviour affecting its services are “relatively low and steadily decreasing”, despite having to curtail the 27 bus route for an hour last week as a result of anti-social behaviour in the Brookfield area of Tallaght.

The bus route was curtailed on Monday, February 5, and instead went via Fortunestown Way for an hour during the evening, however a spokesperson for Dublin Bus has stated that the transport provider’s community initiatives have led to a decrease in instances of anti-social behaviour.

The spokesperson told The Echo that the reduction in anti-social behaviour “is due, in part, to our commitment to embrace and foster community relations while also implementing physical mechanisms that protect our customers and employees who avail of our services.

“Dublin Bus operates a Schools Education Programme which involves educating young people about the importance of the bus in their lives and in their local community.

“The work of our school and community co-ordinators has also proven highly successful in encouraging young people to respect their bus and has assisted greatly in the reduction of incidents of anti-social behaviour.”
