Body of missing pensioner found on Welsh beach

THE body of pensioner, who went missing from a care home in Rathfarnham in November, has been found on a Welsh beach.

HM Coastguard and North Wales Police confirmed the male body found on the shore in North Wales on November 29 as that of Brendan Burke (71).

Mr Burke, was last seen at 4.17pm on November 15, outside the Permanent TSB in Rathmines.

He was missing from the nearby Bloomfield Care Centre.

Authorities are not treating the death as suspicious.

Welsh Police recovered his body with the help of the Coastguard from a small cove near to Trearddur Bay on the west coast of Anglesey.

Gardai in Dublin helped them to identify that the remains.

A police spokesman said Mr Burke’s next of kin have been informed and the coroner for North West Wales has also been notified.

Gardai thanked the public for their assistance during the investigation.

The process of bringing Mr Burke home to Ireland is underway.
