SOUTH Dublin County Council’s Public Realm Section has identified eight locations where they will install public water fountains.

At this week’s monthly meeting of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Dermot Looney asked the Chief Executive “to ensure the prompt installation of public water fountains in South Dublin County in areas including parks, villages and other suitable locations, and to make a statement on the matter.”

The Council replied that eight locations had been identified including public parks where water fountains will be installed.

They added: “The projected costs of procuring these items is such that it was deemed necessary to run a tender process to ensure compliance with public procurement guidelines.

“The closing date for receipt of tenders was Thursday April 18.

“A total of four tenders were received and these are now being assessed and evaluated.

“It is expected that the tender evaluation process will be completed by the end of April and a contract then awarded for the supply and installation of the water fountains.”
