English wins out in Galway Marathon title
KEVIN English enjoyed more marathon success when he won the Galway Bay event on Saturday.
Opting to contest this competition instead of Dublin Marathon, the Kilnamanagh man came home in a time of 2.48.54, five minutes ahead of his nearest challenger.
It was a great achievement for English who explained “I have been struggling with a back problem.
“I struggled with my nutrition on the day and after a strong first half I got a little dizzy at Mile 18.
“I got some gels on course and finished the last couple miles strong. It was a tough day mentally, being out in front from the gun.
“I will take a well-deserved rest now and target a spring marathon” he added.
