European Elections: Tallaght’s Lynn Boylan among Dublin MEPs
THE Dublin race to Europe is over, with all four MEP seats filled for the capital.
Regina Doherty (FG), Barry Andrews (FF), Lynn Boylan (SF) and Aodhán Ó Ríordáin (Lab) have all been elected to the European Parliament as MEPs for Dublin.
Doherty and Andrews polled the highest and when deemed elected in the 19th count had 77,442 and 76,881 respectively.
Lynn Boylan (SF), who grew up in Kilnamanagh and now lives in Clondalkin, was also elected on the 19th count with 68,235.
Boylan secured the third spot, winning back the MEP seat she lost in 2019.
The battle for the fourth seat played out between Ciarán Cuffe (GP), Aodhán Ó Ríordáin (Lab), and Independent Ireland candidate Niall Boylan.
However, Ó Ríordáin won the last seat after receiving more than 16,000 transfers from Cuffe following the incumbent’s exclusion on the 18th count.
Cuffe was one of two sitting MEPs to lose their seats, after Independents4Change MEP Clare Daly was excluded on the 17th count.
