Evening of inspiring music: Concert Fundraiser for Kingswood Community Choir trip

“We set up in 2019; it was only supposed to be a month!” laughs Kingwood Community Choir (KCC) Musical Director Pauline Dalton.

Dublin Gospel Choir will perform in a joint concert with the KCC, with the aim of raising funds to help support the KCC’s upcoming trip to Italy.

This exciting event will feature an uplifting blend of pop, rock, and gospel music, showcasing the vibrant talents of both choirs.

Attendees can look forward to a night filled with harmonious melodies and powerful performances, all while supporting a worthy cause.

Audiences will not only enjoy an evening of inspiring music but also contribute to enriching the cultural experiences of the Kingswood Choir on their journey to Italy.

The KCC have performed in the Limerick Choral Festival for the last three years, being the one to close the event this year.

When asked how long this fundraiser has been in the works, Pauline responded by stating that last year, she contemplated giving the choir “something to work for.”

Highlights of the process have included getting increased attention on social media and receiving the help of the Civic, who have been “fantastic”; they came into contact from the KCC’s previous fundraiser in the Maldron back in 2021, and they have been “so supportive.”

After this event, the KCC has a busy Christmas season ahead with charity work and performances; usual venues include the Suzanne House for the lights turning on and nursing homes; last Christmas, they performed at 19 places according to Pauline. This year, they will also be performing in the community centre for people with learning difficulties.

For their help, Pauline would like to thank the Dublin Gospel Choir, the team of 6–7 people behind the scenes at KCC, the Civic, businesses and local politicians that have sponsored them, and the community centre; there will be a programme available on the night with more details.

Proceeds from the event will fund the KCC’s trip to the International Choir Festival in Tuscany, Italy, next June.
