Fairytale of… Jobstown House? Pub in the hunt for Christmas Number One
By Hayden Moore
A TALLAGHT pub has this year put its own spin on Fairytale of New York by The Pogues, Jobstown style.
The Jobstown House and its customers are well known for getting together to create fun videos, and this Christmas they fully produced their own rendition of The Pogues classic.
Jobstown House owner John Kilbride and barmaid Laura Bardon lend their vocals to Fairytale of Jobstown House, filling in for the original leads Shane MacGowan and Kirsty MacColl.
But there is also no shortage of familiar faces from the bar with Galvin Bardon on thin-whistle, Johnny Price on drums, Paul Hicks on guitar and Dave Carney giving the ukulele a bash.
John Kilbride, Jobstown House owner, told The Echo: “We just thought that we would go for Christmas Number One this year.
"We’re just over 7,000 views on YouTube now so I think we’re on the right track anyway,” explained John.
“The initial idea was to lift the music and just do a video but we ended up doing the whole thing and it was good bit of craic.
“When I was uploading it and about to click publish, I was a bit nervous but it’s got a good reception, people are having a bit of a laugh with it.”
