False alarm confirmed after smoke seen coming from local petrol station

One person has been taken to Tallaght Hospital this morning after an incident involving a security device at a petrol station on the N81.

Two Dublin Fire Brigade engines and one ambulance from Tallaght responded to an emergency call just before 7am after they received reports of smoke coming from the building opposite the entrance to the De Selby estate.

When the emergency services arrived no fire was detected, but one member of staff was taken to hospital as a precaution after smoke was emitted was the device.

A spokesperson from DFB speaking to Echo.ie said the incident related to an anti-theft device activating rather than a fire.

The petrol station is open today for business as normal
