
Brave father Martin saved his daughter’s life

GARDAI are responding to queries from the DPP in relation to the death of a father who saved his daughter’s life. Martin Finn (60) from Gurteen, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10 died on January 17 2017.
The man was out feeding horses with his daughter when the incident happened on the Newcastle Road in Clondalkin.

A postmortem performed by Dr Stephen Crowther at Tallaght Hospital gave the cause of death as head and neck injuries due to a road traffic accident.
It is understood Mr Finn pushed his daughter Abbie out of harms way before he was struck by an oncoming car.
Mr Finn and his daughter were tending to horses when the incident happened.
At a resumed hearing into the man’s death, gardai confirmed that a file has been sent to the DPP.
Queries have arisen and these are being dealt with by investigating officers, Inspector Mark O’Neill told the court.
Speaking after her husband’s death, Mrs Hall-Finn said her teenage daughter Abbie, who was injured in the incident, said her father had pushed her out of the way of the oncoming car before he was struck.
Mrs Hall-Finn had been waiting nearby in her parked car.
Her husband and daughter were making their way back to the car when the incident happened.
Coroner Dr Myra Cullinane adjourned the inquest until August 8 2018.
