A teacher from the school who issued the alert online said: “A former student sent us the information this evening that someone had been going around the Firhouse area saying that they were from Firhouse Community College and that they were fundraising for the school.

“It was for a project to help build houses in India.”

According to the teacher, the man was using the name of a former student when doing door-to-door collections.

The teacher said: “They were using the name of the former student and his friends contacted him to let him know.”

The student then contacted the school to alert them of the scam.

The teacher went on to say it was not the policy of Firhouse Community College to fundraise door-to-door.
