In their reply the Council stated that five locations for teen spaces had been approved for 2019.

The programme will continue in 2020 and 2021 but projects for these years have not been proposed yet and locations have yet to be considered, the Council added.

The Council stated that the five locations which will be rolled out in 2019 are Collinstown Park, Griffeen Park, Ballycragh Park, Kingswood Open Space and Avonbeg Open Space.

The Collinstown Park site will be “a robust area of activity for teenagers” with a goal, basketball net and large play equipment. The estimated cost is €120,000.

The site at Griffeen Park in Lucan is on the Esker side. The Council said it has a estimated cost of €120,000 and will include “a tea shop/coffee-pod type facility” with seating and toilet facilities.

The €40,000 site at Kingswood Open Space will comprise a “giant bench” and large play type equipment for older children.

At Avonbeg, the facility will be a MUGA (Multi use games area) and will have an estimated cost of €80,000.

The facility at Ballycragh Park will have a estimated cost of €110,000 and will include play equipment for use by older children and seating.
