IT HAS been a special birthday week for the Harvey Norman store in Tallaght which celebrated the first year in operation of its flagship shop on Greenhills Road.

On Monday, July 31, 2017, Harvey Norman cut the red ribbon with giant scissors and opened the doors to the 60,000 sq ft flagship store.

The store now employs nearly 60 employees, and store manager Edward Larkin says it has been a good year.

He told The Echo: “Yes, we have been open for a year and it has been a good 12 months. We are entering our back-to-school/back-to-college period and working towards Black Friday, which is one of our busiest times of the year.”

Last weekend the store celebrated with a marquee sale and fun events for the whole family, including a bouncy castle, face-painting and free ice creams. Customers enjoyed a complimentary Dyson Hair Blow Dry and coffee by Nespresso. Last Sunday RTÉ 2fm broadcast live with three €100 Harvey Norman vouchers up for grabs. The Marquee Sale was particularly popular, with hundreds of special offers available.

A number of chefs and celebrities have visited the store during the year. Kevin Dundon came to visit to celebrate the launch of the Hoover Candy Vision Oven.  The Happy Pear twins visited the store to teach customers some of the tips and tricks to lead a healthy lifestyle. In April, TV chef and author Rachel Allen visited the store and did a cookery demonstration.

Manager Edward Larkin is looking forward to developing the store.

He said: “We have only really just started. We want to build on what we have and develop the store. It has been a great year.”
