AN OUTDOOR 80th birthday celebration was held for former Fine Gael councillor Therese Ridge on Saturday March 13.
The event was organised by friends of Ms Ridge, who canvassed for her during a 20-year political career.

“She has done a lot for the area, we were delighted to be able to do something for her, said Marian Reilly, a Moorfield resident and former canvasser for Ms Ridge.
“Myself, Marian Rutledge, Jim Gayson and Antoinette Coopey always canvassed for her and were going out for Therese Ridge for over 20 years.”
In 2012, Ms Ridge resigned from the Fine Gael party after facing disciplinary proceedings from the party following adverse findings in the Mahon Report.
At the time, she said that she was not appealing against the ruling of the party disciplinary committee, and was leaving because she could not get fair procedures.
“People can choose to have short memories, but she done a lot of good for the area over the years,” said Ms Reilly.
