Free six-week health course starts in Ballyfermot Library

A FREE six-week health course is available at Ballyfermot Library throughout January and February – courtesy of a new initiative available at libraries across the country.

The Phew healthy eating and weight management programme starts in Ballyfermot Library on Monday, January 15.

The workshop takes place each Monday until February 19 –  from 10am to 12.30pm.

It is run by a qualified dietitian working in the HSE’s Community Nutrition and Dietetic Service.

Each week the programme covers something new on weight management through healthy eating, exercise and healthy living.

The Public Library Service in Ireland is placing a strong focus on providing information and resources to help people improve their health and wellbeing in 2018.

Participants will have the option of having their weight checked by a dietitian each week.

This will be done in private and not be discussed within the group.

Sessions will be informal, sociable and use a variety of visual aids to allow people to tackle their weight.

To reserve a place people will need to book in advance and agree to attend the full programme.

Participants will be invited to attend a follow-up session after the six weeks are over.

For more information contact Susan Byrne, Dietitian, HSE CHO Area 7 on 076-6956045 or Ballyfermot Library at 6269324.
