It features a wide variety of entertainment, including family-fun days, duck races, historical talks, and rafting on the Lucan Weir.

On Thursday, September 10, the festival kicks off with a free historical walk through Lucan Village – meeting point 10.30 am at St Mary’s Church car park.

A free talk and slide show on the history of Lucan’s tram system – which operated from 1881 to 1940 – takes place in Lucan Presbyterian Church later that day at 8pm.

On Saturday, September 12, the annual Tom Byrne Memorial Road Race takes place. Organised by Lucan Harriers, the race starts at the Harriers track in Esker at 10am, and takes in a number of scenic local routes, with prizes going to the top three runners in all age and gender categories.

A walk in the grounds of Lucan House and Demesne – by kind permission of the Italian Ambassador – takes place later that day from 2pm to 5pm.

The walk will feature a falcon display and demonstration, Dublin Male Voice Choir, Coro Italiano di Dublino, Ivan the Viking and friends, and Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Lucan.

Tickets are €5 and available at the entrance. Free admission for children 12 and under.

On Sunday, September 13, the much-loved family fun day takes place on the main street of the village from 1pm to 6pm. Two stages will showcase local talent all afternoon and a vast array of entertainment will be available for kids.

Rafting on the Liffey Weir and duck races on the Griffeen River, are other daring and enjoyable events on offer on September 13.
