A PICNIC will be held in St Anne’s GAA Club in Bohernabreena on Saturday, June 30, in memory of Cian Marren, a six-year-old boy who tragically died after being hit by a van last summer.
Cian’s Picnic is being organised by St Anne’s in memory of the young boy, who was involved in St Anne’s Macra, a kindergarden for young children, and whose family are active members of the club.

Adam Doran, the Games Promotion Officer for St Anne’s GAA Club, told The Echo: “We hope the picnic will be an annual thing for people to remember Cian, and we hope it will be a colourful tribute to a young boy that we all loved.
“He was a bundle of energy, and if there was any mischief going on he’d be in the middle of it!
“There’s very few weeks that go by without someone in the club mentioning Cian, he’s very highly thought of.”
All those who knew Cian, who was a pupil of Gaelscoil Chnoc Liamhna, or want to remember a loved one that has passed away are welcome to attend the picnic.
There will be games and bubbles at the picnic, while there will also be an opportunity for people to play tug-of-war, which was Cian’s favourite game.
People are invited to bring along their own picnics and picnic blankets for the event, which will be held at 11.30am, with all attendees being asked to wear brightly coloured clothes.
