
Gardai appeal for witnesses following death of 85-year-old in car collision

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a two-car collision on Conyngham Road yesterday (Monday), which resulted in the death of an 85-year-old man.
In a statement released this morning, An Garda Siochana said the collision occurred at approximately 11.30am on Monday at the junction of Conyngham Road and Island Bridge Gate, Phoenix Park.
According to the Garda statement: “The driver of one of the cars, an 85-year-old man, was removed by ambulance to St James’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.”
The driver of the second car was taken to the hospital but his injuries are not life threatening, according to Gardai.
The scene was examined by local Scenes of Crime members and the Coroner was notified of the death. A post-mortem examination will be carried out the results of which will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
