Gardai arrested 185 people for driving under the influence over the Bank Holiday weekend – an increase of 48% on the same period last year.
This included three motorists who were caught driving while under the influence of drugs.

The first preliminary roadside drug tests began in Dublin on Saturday as part of operation surround.
At least one driver was arrested for testing positive for cocaine after being stopped on the N4, while another tested for positive for cannabis.
A large Garda presence on our roads over the Easter weekend was part of an organised operation to make the roads safer.
