Gardai investigate hoax package found at An Post mail centre in Clondalkin
A SUSPICIOUS package found at the An Post sorting office on the Nangor Road yesterday has been handed over to gardai for investigation – after the device was deemed a hoax.
Gardai at Clondalkin were alerted to an incident at the An Post sorting office on the Nangor Road, Clondalkin, on Monday, October 15, at around 4pm.
In a statement to The Echo, a Garda spokesperson said: “There was a report that a suspicious package was intercepted at this location.
“Defence Forces EOD team attended the scene [and] the Nangor Road and Park West were closed for a time.”
The Echo understands that there was heavy traffic and long tailbacks in the area as people made their way home from work, with the area not re-opening until around 9pm last night.
Gardai confirmed that the device was declared a hoax and handed over to gardai to be investigated.
