Gardai seize counterfeit products at business premises in Clondalkin

COUNTERFEIT products were seized during a garda operation at a business premises in Clondalkin on Tuesday.

Overall, gardai seized 15,000 counterfeit electronic products which they believe were destined for the Christmas market, at two properties in in a Business Park, at Oak Close, Dublin, 12 and a residence of a suspect in Dublin 3.

The haul includes game console controllers, ear phones, USB plugs and a vast amount of branded packaging. 

Hard drives and other electronic devices including mobile phones were also seized, along with relevant documentation. 

The Garda Intellectual Property Crime Unit within the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) took charge of the operation.

Estimated street value of the products seized is in the region of €300,000.

Gardai say investigations are continuing, and they have taken statements from relevant potential witnesses.

It is anticipated there will be further searches and arrests.

Gardaí also say there are working with Europol and 20 other countries investigating the international dimension of this crime.
