Go-ahead for building of primary healthcare centre

By Aideen O'Flaherty

THE HSE has been given the green light for the construction of a two-storey primary healthcare centre and a single-storey multi-functional space in the grounds of Collinstown Park Community College in Rowlagh, Clondalkin.

The HSE previously stated that they expect a maximum of 36 staff to be employed at the facility, and if there are “no funding or delivery delays” it is expected that the construction of the centre will be complete by 2020.

New healthcare centre expected to be finished by 2020

There are plans for the Rowlagh Primary Healthcare Centre to house a nurse-managed clinic, suites for speech and language therapy, occupational and physiotherapy therapy, a dental clinic, a paediatrics suite, GP suites and a mental health suite.

An application for planning permission for the development was lodged by the HSE in March, containing plans for the development to consist of a multi-functional space, to serve Collinstown Park Community College, and a two-storey primary healthcare centre for the community.

Provisions for 84 car-parking spaces and 26 bicycle-parking spaces, and new vehicular and pedestrian access from Collinstown Road, also form part of the application.

It is proposed that there will be alterations to the pedestrian access from Neilstown Drive, so as to serve the primary care centre rather than the college as at present.

Plans for a rooftop plant in screened plant enclosure, boundary railings, gates and walls, new landscaping works and associated site works were included in the submission.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the development on May 21, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the development of a pedestrian route from the car park to the healthcare centre, the relocation of the proposed staff entrance, and the reconfiguration of the planned car park to provide tree planting for every fifth parking bay.
