Golden opportunity to represent top Irish food and horticultural brands

FOUR professionals from South County Dublin are currently on placements around the world, representing leading Irish and international food, drink and horticultural brands in overseas markets.

They are taking part in the Bord Bia Marketing Fellowship programme, run in conjunction with UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, which supports the growth of the Irish food, drink and horticultural industry on a global scale, while honing the strategic business development, marketing and professional skills of the participants.

Bord Bia and UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School are now recruiting for 20 individuals to take part in the next Bord Bia Marketing Fellowship programme (MSc International Marketing Practice) which commences in June 2017.

All four locals would encourage anyone with an interest in joining the food and drink industry to apply.

Aoife Carr from Ballinteer is currently based in Dusseldorf, Germany. “It is a great feeling to work together with client companies and to witness their continued growth and success.

“Everyday presents a new challenge and the opportunity to learn from it. The possibilities, which can arise from the Fellowship are endless,” she said.

John Dineen, from Blackrock, is currently based in Sydney: “I’ve had an absolutely incredible year so far. Irish food and drink is still relatively new in this market so it is a really interesting time.

“I’ve learned so much about food and drink in general and also about myself. I would 100 per cent recommend this programme to anyone interested”, he said.

Successful applicants on the Bord Bia Marketing Fellowship programme have their tuition fees fully paid and receive a bursary towards living expenses.

The 18-month action learning programme involves carrying out commercial assignments on behalf of Irish food, drink and horticultural companies in 12 key international markets.

Classroom-based taught modules and skills training and development take place in UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School during a number of block release visits back to Dublin.

All applicants will undergo a selection process and candidates demonstrating the most potential to add value to the Irish food and drink industry will be selected.

Employment prospects from these programmes are outstanding with numerous companies regularly recruiting directly from the programmes, including Kerry, Glanbia, Ornua, Teelings Whiskey, Keoghs Crisps, Dawn Farm Foods, Dairygold, among many more.

The Bord Bia Marketing Fellowship programme is just one of an innovative suite of talent development programmes run in conjunction with UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School which also serve to support the growth of the Irish food, drink and horticultural industry on a global scale.
