Founder and owner Sarah Jane O’Neill identified the need for a female only fitness club – catered for ladies who may feel “self-conscious.”

“Girls who typically join may feel a bit insecure about joining a gym. It’s something I felt myself,” said Sarah Jane, who is originally from Clondalkin and now lives in Lucan.

Since opening in July at JFK Industrial Estate in Dublin 12, the club has proved a hit.

Members are monitored individually, and can access online nutritional and home exercise tips by Sarah Jane, to complement the range of classes on offer at the studio.

Sarah Jane said: “It’s proving popular I think because of the community aspect. It’s private and there is a social aspect. Half the girls didn’t know anyone else before joining, as we’re too busy nowadays, but once they start, they get to know each other.”

Various packages are available but members are encouraged to take different classes for best results, which range from clubbercise to bootcamp, and from body conditioning to dance fitness.

Sarah Jane continued: “There is something to suit everyone. To get the best benefit, girls on average do three or four classes a week, some do one in the morning and one in the evening. You need to combine different classes to make an improvement. If you just stuck to clubbercise, you wouldn’t see results.

“In the summertime, we go out with tyres and have a bit of craic. The equipment helps to keep you focused.”

Online reviews by members are glowing, with Anna O’Neill citing “perfectly pitched classes that get results”, while Claire Kenny says classes have “given me a new lease of life – you are a legend for women in the community.”

Due to the popularity of the studio, Sarah Jane wants to bring in additional fitness trainers.

“I would be very selective with who I bring on board because I’ve a personal connection with members and every class is catered to their needs,” said Sarah Jane.

“I don’t think there is another club like this in Dublin. All the support in studio or online is about honest information. This is not a quick fix but it’s real and achievable.”
