Golden Years Tea Party made sweeter by the chat
By Mary Dennehy
THE third annual Golden Years Tea Party took place in the Rathcoole Community Centre last weekend, with plenty of tea and a tasty spread made all the sweeter by lots of chat and music.
The day is organised as a show of appreciation and respect for the senior citizens of the Four Districts [Saggart, Rathcoole, Newcastle and Brittas], who helped build the area into the fantastic community that it now is.

The staff of the Rathcoole Community Centre made the day possible, alongside officers from Rathcoole and Clondalkin Garda Stations who provided “fantastic assistance” – with a special thanks extended to community police officer Frank Howe, who came up with the original idea for the tea party.
The RAMS [Retired Active Mens Social] performed on the day and, according to centre manager Tricia O’Halloran, had the crowd up and dancing within minutes.
RAMS were followed by the GARDA band, which kept the dance floor full.
“This was our third year running this event and it is hoped this will be an annual event on our calendar”, Ms Halloran said.
“Thanks also to all who sponsored this event with sandwiches, cakes and biscuits on the day.”
