A GREAT start to the Christmas season was had in Lucan’s Presbyterian Church when Rhythm and Rock Gospel Choir raised €750 for the homeless at a special Christmas concert.

The concert “A Christmas Gift” was an evening of fun, song and the Christmas spirit.

It was Rhythm and Rock’s first concert.

Ashling Murphy from Rhythm and Rock told The Echo: “It was a great night. We raised €750 for the homeless. Not bad for our first gig.

We presented bouquets to Bernadette Fagan from People Who Care Share and Audrey McMorrow from A Welcome Place who work tirelessly for the homeless.”

Rhythm and Rock, formed last September, performed a number of Christmas favourites including Silent Night and Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone.

Ashling said: “There was a real family feel on the night. We had storytelling and some children read Christmas poems”

Clothes and food were also collected in aid of the homeless.

Rhythm and Rock practises every Wednesday night in the function room above the County Bar in Lucan. If you are interested in joining please contact their Facebook page.
