Greenhills College students raise €574 for Peter McVerry trust
THIRD year students from Greenhills College raised almost €600 for the Peter McVerry Trust after holding a number of events to raise funds for the homelessness charity, as part of their ‘action project’ for their Civic, Social and Political Education class.
The students held events, including a football blitz for the junior and senior classes, a raffle where the winner received a hamper, and a mile-long Santa hat run. The class aimed to raise over €300 for the charity, but ultimately raised €574 as a result of the “generosity of the students” in the college.
The cheque was presented to Michael Thompson of the Peter McVerry Trust last week, following a talk he gave to the students.
