Greenogue’s first GOAL mile run raised €25,000
AN INAUGURAL corporate GOAL mile took place in Greenogue this week, raising €25,000 for people in need.
Con McCarthy, MD of Greenogue and Aerodrome Business Parks, said management was approached by Alan Brogan, the former Dublin GAA football star, who is a Goal ambassador to see if they would allow him to run a Goal mile fundraiser in the business park.
“Alan works for PRL, a logistics company and Goal sponsor, based in Greenogue. We not only agreed to allow the run in Greenogue, we decided to get involved in organising and fundraising,” said Con.
“We agreed that any funds raised would be shared equally between Goal and a fund run by Greenogue Management called the Greenogue Charity and Sports Fund, which is something we have been running for many years. Any funds we raise are distributed to local schools, sports clubs and charities in the Newcastle and Rathcoole area. In 2023 alone we have distributed more than €100,000 to local voluntary good causes.”

The corporate GOAL run on December 14, also featured sixth classes from St Finian’s NS, one of the beneficiaries of Greenogue’s sports fund.
“They, along with some of their teachers, brought great enthusiasm and atmosphere to the event which was run around a course in the Industrial Estate. They had also raised some money for the event in the school. Many of them play football for St Finian’s so they got great joy from meeting Alan Brogan and Sam Maguire,” said Con.
In all about 150 people ran or walked the route.
McCarthy said the additional funds raised from the corporate run, allowed Greengoue to make donations of some €30,000 to ten different groups in the area in the last few days.
