Gridlock set to return as schools reopen after summer break
As the school holidays come to an end the level of traffic in many local estates and surrounding roads will increase significantly.
The AA have today warned motorists to be extra vigilant as the volume of vehicles rises, with many people also returning to college and work after holidays.
Many residents in areas such as Tallaght, Clondalkin and Lucan have voiced their concerns recently about the level of traffic in their estates, with residents in Lucan particularly worried about the bottlenecks they say have not been addressed.
Speaking today, the AA’s Roadwatch Editor Arwen Foley said: “Between the start of the new school year and the end of the holiday season commuting volumes are known to increase significantly from late August into the start of September.
“Regular commuters into cities across Ireland will have noticed a drop off in traffic over the summer months, and particularly in August, but with schools returning over the next few weeks, traffic volumes will start to increase this week.
Mr Foley continued: “As well as the start of a new school year, August/September represents the start of a new traffic year with the number of cars on Irish roads increasing in line with schools and colleges re-opening and the end of the holiday season for workers.”
Access to the N4 and M50 is also another worry that has been raised by many local residents, and we want know what traffic blackspots in your area do you feel need to be addressed?
