Guest causes €1,000 worth of damage at the Glashaus Hotel

A HOTEL GUEST checked into a Tallaght Hotel and then caused over €1,000 worth of damage, Tallaght District Court has heard.

Sergeant Michael Ahern told Judge Patricia McNamara that at 4.50pm on March 18 last, Clinton Martin checked into the Glashaus Hotel in Tallaght. Sgt Ahern said Martin went up to his room and damaged the carpet, two mirrors, a soap dispenser and curtains. He said the damage came to €1,000.

Sgt Ahern said Martin then went down to reception and became very aggressive and broke some furniture worth €150. He said the gardai were called and Martin was arrested.

Clinton Martin, aged 25, with addresses at Killinarden Estate and Newhall Court, both Tallaght, pleaded guilty to damaging a carpet and with damaging two mirrors, a soap dispenser and net curtains at the Glashaus Hotel, Tallaght, on March 18, 2018.

Sgt Ahern said Martin had 10 previous convictions.

Martin’s solicitor, Jeremiah Breen, said his client wanted to apologise for his actions.

He said Martin had been in an argument before the incident.

Judge McNamara said: “He needs some anger management.”

She remanded Martin on continuing bail to a date in September for a probation report and proposals for compensation.
