Harvey Norman launches autism-friendly shopping evenings
By Mark Keane
Harvey Norman’s flagship Tallaght store will be hosting an autism-friendly shopping evening this Friday, March 30, from 6pm to 8pm.
It is joining SuperValu Walkinstown, which made Tuesday evenings autism-friendly last November, and Lidl which announced last week that it is implementing Autism Aware Quiet Evenings every Tuesday from April 2.

To develop its first autism-friendly environment, Harvey Norman has partnered with myAccessHub, an autism accessibility and inclusivity advisor which helps improve autism accessibility for businesses.
This Friday, Harvey Norman will introduce the dimming of lights, quiet music, TV screens being switched off or displaying the same channel and a sensory box with items such as sunglasses, caps and fidget spinners - alongside greater staff awareness.
Harvey Norman has also created a sensory map of its Tallaght store, showing which departments are considered low, quiet or high intensity for those visiting.
There is also the option of doing a virtual tour of the store, allowing people to familiarise themselves with the layout before visiting.
The furniture, bedding, electrical and computer retailer has said it is part of a long-term goal of developing autism-friendly environments in all its stores across the country.
Harvey Norman’s Tallaght store is located on the Greenhills Road.
