In what was a tight affair, Hermitage overcame Royal Curragh 3/2.

With the title on a knife-edge and with the tie level at two matches each, it took a birdie on the 17th by Hermitage to close out the excellent Portmarnock team.

In accepting the pennant team manager Paul Purdy said: “It was a long time coming and but for the work ethic and commitment from his team this would not have happened.”

To rousing cheers he proudly accepted the pennant from Leinster Golf Chairman John Ferriter. Hermitage too can now look forward to the AIG Cups & Shields All Ireland finals at Thurles where they will carry the hopes of Leinster.
