‘His sudden death has rippled through our whole community’
“HE WAS a lovely little boy in a house of girls,” said Dolores O’Connor as she honoured the memory of her son, who would have turned 16 on October 23. On May 11, 2024, Max O’Connor, from Newcastle, got into difficulty in the water as he was swimming between Ardclough and Celbridge, Co Kildare.
Emergency services attending the scene recovered his body from the water and the coroner later confirmed it was a tragic accident. Since then, Dolores, Max’s father, and Max’s seven siblings coped “hour by hour” and got through thanks to counselling and the support they gave one another.
