Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien TD recently visited a new 52-home Respond housing development.

Based in Bluebell, the development will consist of a mix of 12 one-bed apartments, 32 two-bed apartments and eight three-bed apartments with associated car and cycle parking spaces.

A not-for-profit approved housing body, Respond has said it is looking forward to working with the new minister in delivering homes for people who need them.

Respond currently has 1,160 homes in construction on sites nationwide.

“We are looking forward to working collaboratively with [the new minister] to deliver social and affordable homes for families and individuals who need them”, Niamh Randall, spokesperson for Respond, said.

“Our partners in government are essential for us to achieve our goals for the delivering of additional social housing and provision of services.”

She added: “We are building homes throughout the country for families and individuals who are in housing need.

A secure place to call home is critical to the quality of life and wellbeing of individuals and families.

“We see first-hand the devastating impact of homelessness and insecure housing in our work with families and children.

“Our long-term aim is to provide lifetime social and affordable homes and support in vibrant and diverse communities.”

Respond and Dublin City Council has secured, in partnership, funding from the Department of Housing, Heritage and Local Government for the development, with support also provided through the Housing Finance Agency.

Speaking on-site last Friday (July 31), Minister O’Brien said: “Approved housing bodies, such as Respond, in collaboration with local authorities, are providing real-time, on-the-ground solutions to the challenges we face in housing.

“With 1,160 homes in construction at the moment, and an ambition to grow this number further, Respond is playing a pivotal role in the delivery of social housing and aligning with this Government’s promise on new home delivery.

“I would like to commend them for the work they do and I look forward to working closely with them on future projects.”.
