Illegal dumping pushes council to consider installing cameras

South Dublin County Council is considering installing CCTVs in Montpelier Estate, Jobstown, following continuous reports of illegal dumping by the residents.

At the Tallaght area committee meeting on Monday, September 23, management explained that in line with the related Code of Practice, several steps need to be taken to install a CCTV system, such as consulting a Data Protection Officer, submitting the case to the CCTV Oversight Board and finally to the Council’s Chief Executive for approval.
