Incredible experience for Holly on Dancing with the Stars

“BEING part of the Dancing with the Stars final on Sunday was an incredible experience,” beams Firhouse Community College alumni and dancer Holly Devitt.

Performing on that floor, surrounded by so much energy and talent, reminded her how far this journey has taken her and “how lucky I am to be part of it.”

The preparation behind the scenes was intense but rewarding. Every moment reinforced that Holly is “exactly where she is meant to be.”

This experience has taught her that there is no age limit on your dreams. This season was a prime example of that.

Holly started dancing at 12 and had so many people tell her she was “too late” and that she would “never make it”.

But she kept going, and she knows other dancers who started later and are achieving amazing things.

Holly encourages readers to “do what makes you happy; it’s never too late.”

At the same time, “we’re all human, and we all get nervous when stepping up to do something big.”

She continues by recommending that “if people doubt you, it’s often because something is standing in the way of their own courage to try” and to keep going anyway.

“From childhood scars to DWTS, it really felt like a dream come true,” she beams.

The best part of the experience was the amount of support she received from everyone, even just for one moment, to which Holly exclaims, “It left me in shock.”

Seeing support from her area in Firhouse, a “community like no other”, and especially from her former secondary school, Firhouse Community College, showed that “a great school continues to support you long after you leave.”

Holly would like to thank her grandparents for giving her a better life and supporting every step of this journey.

She would also like to thank her mam and “all our angels above”, and she hopes they are proud of the life she is living now and proud of how she has “turned it around”.

Holly also extends her gratitude to her team, especially her coach, whose “determination and love for dance make things like this possible.”

She would like to thank the production team and cast of DWTS for the opportunity and their trust in her to be part of “something special”.

Last but not least, Holly would like to thank DanceSport Ireland, who have supported her since she began her dancing journey. She is “forever grateful”.

She now looks forward to getting back into training, preparing for competitions ahead, while finishing my second year studying for a BCL in Law and Criminology.

“There is a lot to look forward to, and I’m loving every minute of it,” Holly beams.
