January Team of the Month – Griffith College Templeogue

GRIFFTH College Templeogue are back among the contenders for ‘The Echo Team of the Year’ Award after they completed their march to a third National Senior Cup title in five seasons.

Mark Keenan’s men had to draw on every drop of that cup experience to dig out a 78-68 victory over near neighbours DBS Éanna in the decider staged in front of a packed National Basketball Arena.

Winners of this competition back in 2016 and '18, Templeogue had to weather a ferocious comeback by the Rathfarnham side that saw them battle back from 13 points down at halftime to draw to within two as the game's last couple of minutes ticked away.

But a Neil Randolph three-pointer together with a Jason Killeen bucket handed Templeogue back some breathing room down the stretch.
