Jogging Mrs Brown raises €2,000 for ‘Flying Day’
By Brendan Grehan
A LUCAN mother has raised nearly €2,000 after she did 10k around Lucan, dressed as Mrs Brown.
Claudia Gelling was raising funds for the Special Day of Flying at Newcastle Aerodrome on Saturday, July 7. Claudia jogged the 10k, pushing a pram and with a bunch of blue balloons in her hand in recognition of her four children with autism.

She said: “We got a great response from the people of Lucan. I have raised nearly €2,000 and it will go to a good cause.”
Claudia is a busy woman with her four children, aged 9, 8, 6 and 3, but running the 10k was deeply important to her.
She said : “As parents/families of children with special needs, we don’t get many days where we can relax and where there is total acceptance.
“We are all in this together and if any child drops something or dirties themselves, nobody says anything.”
The Special Day of Flying gives children with special needs the opportunity to a take a flight in a light aircraft.
Claudia said: “It was a great day – 150 children with special needs – and they get them up on a flight on a little spin around Lucan and down to Maynooth and back. It was an amazing day for all the kids.”
