Jude’s pipped at the post in Senior Camogie final
DESPITE a brave second half performance, St Jude’s senior camogie team were pipped at the post in the Senior Championship decider in front of a packed crowd in Parnell Park on Friday.
Down by 0-10 to 0-1 at the interval, Jude’s got their act together in the second half and came within two points but St Vincent’s held their nerve to run out 0-15 to 2-6 winners.
Having won three of the last five championship titles, Jude’s would have fancied their chances of seeing of Vin’s but they were left with a mountain to climb at half time.
Jude’s had already won the Division One league title during the summer and had overcome St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh, Castleknock and Ballinteer St John’s in the group stages before seeing off Ballyboden St Enda’s in the semis.
Jude’s started this contest slowly and only managed one point in the opening half from captain Sinead Nolan but at the opposite end Vin’s kept the umpires busy with 10 points to their credit.
On the turnover, inspired by Nolan, Jude’s produced a superb recovery and came within two points as the game remained in the melting pot in the closing stages.

Disappointment after the game
Two goals from Nolan gave Jude’s a huge lift and bridged the gap but Vin’s always maintained the lead with a couple of well-worked scores.
As Jude’s piled on the pressure, Vincent’s held firm to limit the scores and ran out deserving three point winners.
Several of the Jude’s players had played in the Dublin Intermediate Football Final the previous week and will also compete in a league final against Raheny in St Anne’s Park this week.
