Following the Senior men’s remarkable Premiership division victory after a triumphant visit to Inchicore last Friday against St Patrick’s, the youth teams of Shamrock Rovers continued the trend of excellence.

They embodied the spirit of the Hoops with unwavering passion, determination, and a display of immense promise, painting a bright future for the club reports Rory Merriman.

Their performances stood as a testament to the club’s ethos and dedication, showcasing not only skill but also a shared commitment to upholding the Rovers’ legacy of success across all levels.

The u14 Rovers’ side suffered a setback, falling short to St Pat’s in a closely contested game finishing with a 2-1 loss. However, the Hoops’ U15 brought success securing a notable 1-0 victory over St Patricks Athletic in Athlone on Sunday.

Brody Lee’s decisive goal sealed the win. Notably, goalkeeper Alex Noonan exhibited a stellar performance, earning the Man of the Match title and establishing himself as one to watch.

The u15 team’s triumph marks their fourth consecutive win, showcasing their developing strength and determination in the league.

Back over in Dublin 24, an intense showdown took place in Tallaght Stadium on Saturday, between the U17 Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne FC where an electrifying spectacle of soccer prowess took place.

Rovers looked to get their hands on the EA Sports u17 League of Ireland, Mark Farron Cup and get the better of Drumcondra’s Shelbourne in the Dublin derby.

The game kicked off with an early lead by Shelbourne’s Josh Lynes, a versatile player showcasing his skills both as a dependable centre back and a potent threat upfront. Rovers fought back as Tristan Donnelly beautifully equalised in the 26th minute, seizing an opportunity amidst Shelbourne’s defensive scramble.

With the teams neck and neck for most of the match, it was a tense battle until the 83rd minute when Richard Vodo, displaying exceptional speed, earned a penalty after a challenge in the box. Cian Dillon confidently stepped up and converted the penalty, securing Rovers’ 2-1 victory with a precise shot into the bottom left corner.

The hard-fought victory saw Rovers crowned champions, but not without acknowledging Shelbourne’s formidable challenge. Despite the tough competition, Rovers emerged triumphant, earning their title in a thrilling, closely contested match.
