How long are you together?
4 years
How long are you engaged?
2 years
How did you meet? (Katie)
My friend knew David and a few of his friends. So one night we all ended up at the same house party together. David and I had only met once before this. We spent the night chatting and got on great!
Who proposed?
David
How did you propose? (David)
We went to Bray for the day, that was where we went for our first date.
We did all the usual things you do when you go to Bray, went into the amusements, tried to win Katie a Teddy, got a bag of chips and walked along the beach.
When we were on the beach I got down on one knee and proposed. What made it more special for me was that it was the same place my grandparents got engaged.
What’s the most romantic thing you have ever done for each other? (Katie)
David and I were only together about five months and I was talking about how I’d never been to Disneyland.
The next thing I know David surprised me and booked a trip for himself, me and my son. I couldn’t believe it!
What would your ‘first dance’ song be?
The night we met – Lord Huron
What would it mean to win this prize?
David: Speaking for myself winning this wedding would be amazing, but if we don’t, I have already won because I have Katie.
Katie is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, she is my best friend and I think she deserves to win because she is an amazing person, she was at her strongest when I was at my weakest and has been my guardian angel over the past four years.
I want us to start our life Now, I’m tired of waiting!
Katie: I love David more than anything, he has been through absolute hell and back over the past few years and he deserves a break.
He deserves for his luck to change. We had a party when we first got engaged because we knew it would be a long engagement and we wanted to at least mark the occasion in this decade!
So to win this competition would be absolutely everything to us. It would be the start of our life together as a family.
