KILLINARDEN Community School captured the Under 17 Dublin West Metropolitan League crown following their 4-1 demolition of Adamstown Community College in last Thursday’s final in Killinarden.

Having lost to the same opposition by a carbon copy scoreline earlier in the season, the Tallaght side was determined to exact revenge this time around.

And they set about doing just that when Adebowale Onifade got on the end of a through ball and slotted home only to see Adamstown restore parity by the halftime break.

Killinarden edged back in front by way of a spectacular long range strike from Eoin Moore 10 minutes into the second half and they never looked back from there.

Indeed Onifade doubled their advantage on the 70th minute mark when he cleverly lobbed the opposing goalkeeper from almost 30 yards.

And substitute Reece O’Connor copper-fastened the victory with only his second touch of the game, finishing from inside the penalty area.

Ryan Russell and Jordan Longhi dominated midfield for the winners while John Gibbons gave an assured performance in goal particularly when kicking into a strong wind in the first half.

The team, which competes under the management of Johnny Keenaghan and Wayne Grehan, will now prepare to play the winners of the North/South Dublin Metropolitan playoff.
