Lions Club raise €3k at table quiz

RENOWNED Lucan based charitable organisation Lucan Lions kicked off their Christmas fundraising campaign with a table quiz at Lucan Sarsfields GAA club on Friday, reports Ken Doyle.

Run, as always by the Lions’ dedicated team of volunteers the quiz was attended by around 100 people with proceeds all going to help people in the local area with the ever increasing costs associated with the lead up to Christmas, a tidy sum of €3,000 was raised.

Lucan Lions Club membership at present is around 16 people, who give willingly of their time and talents to help others.

They have supported a whole host of good causes in the Lucan area over the years and continue to do so enthusiastically.

Spokesperson for the Lions, Mattie McCabe told The Echo, “We were thrilled with how the evening went and we had great support from so many people.

“We had eight rounds of questions and each round was sponsored by a local councillor so we’d like to give them huge thanks for their help in raising such a fabulous total.

“The money raised will do a lot of good for people who might be struggling with the financial burden of Christmas.”

Mattie added, “There are a few more things that we’re going to do for Lucan’s needy in the run up to Christmas so watch this space.”
