Local live register numbers show a slight increase

THE NUMBERS SIGNING on the live register in June 2017 were up by 259 from May in the four social welfare offices in the county, bucking the national trend.

Those signing on at Tallaght, Nutgrove, Ballyfermot and Clondalkin all rose.

Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June 2017 was 6.3 per cent, down from 6.4 per cent in May 2017 and down from 8.3 per cent in June 2016.

The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 139,400 in June 2017, down from 140,300 when compared to the May 2017 figure and a decrease of 42,100 when compared to June 2016.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for females in June 2017 was 5.4%, down from 5.5% in May 2017 and down from 6.9% in June 2016. The seasonally adjusted number of males unemployed in June 2017 was 85,600. This is a decrease of 200 when compared to the May 2017 figure of 85,800. In June 2017 the seasonally adjusted number of females unemployed was 53,800, a decrease of 700 when compared to May 2017.

In Tallaght, the total signing on rose from 7,569 in May to 7,668 in June, a rise of 99.

There was an increase of 51 among the under 25s with 1,092 signing on in May and 1,143 signing on in June.

In Nutgrove, the total signing on rose from 2,999 in May to 3,090 in June, a rise of 91.

Among the under 25s, there was an increase of just one with 187 signing on in May and 188 in June.

In Ballyfermot, the total signing on rose by 20 with 2,337 signing on in May and 2,357 signing on in June.

The figures for under 25s rose by 22 with 359 signing on in May and 381 in June.

In Clondalkin, the total signing on rose from 5,027 in May to 5,076 in June, a rise of 49. Among the under 25s there was a rise of 17 with 650 signing on in May and 667 in June.
