Local restaurants, pubs and cafes open their doors
A NUMBER of local hospitality businesses opened their doors today, with restaurants, cafes and pubs welcoming back staff and customers.
Establishments with a kitchen on site can re-open, with indoor and outdoor dining beginning again once a substantial meal worth at least €9 is being served.

It’s been a tough few months for many local businesses, who were forced to close their doors again in October, when Level Five restrictions were introduced.
Nearly two months later, local business are happy to be re-opening, but have expressed their need to be able to remain open, adhering to guidelines and safety measures.
Earlier today, The Echo visited a number of local businesses as they opened their doors, and as part of our #ThinkShopSupportLocal campaign.

Speaking with The Echo, John Kilbride, owner of the Jobstown House in Tallaght said: “Opening up today is mixed emotions.
“I’m happy to be back open but it’s just a pity the way the Government has treated the industry as a whole.”

He added: “We have 26 staff and have 14 back working at the moment.
“It’s really positive getting the guys back to work and looking forward to a better Christmas.”
John stressed that he hopes businesses can remain open going forward, especially in light of the many measures businesses have introduced to keep staff and customers safe.
Paul Phillips of Peachtree East is also hoping that the Tallaght restaurant can keep its doors open into 2021.

“It’s good to get back into the swing of things….and we hope it can continue into the new year”, Paul said.
“We’re looking forward to a busy and safe December and are delighted to have all of our 22 staff back on fulltime work.
“We’re also looking forward to welcoming all of our regular and new customers back.”
