Lord Mayor’s visit to Threshold ‘filled with chats and stories’

LORD Mayor of Dublin City, Caroline Conroy, recently came out to Tallaght to visit the Threshold Training Network, a service focused on empowering people to improve the quality of their mental health.

Threshold Training Network has been based in Tallaght since 1995, where it has been working with adults with mental health difficulties through training programmes.

Over the years, it has expanded its regime to meet the needs of people in a changing landscape of mental health recovery.

The goal of Threshold is helping people through additional support to nurture their mental health on their path to wellbeing and work.

During a tour of the premises in Tallaght Enterprise Centre, Mayor of Dublin City, Caroline Conroy saw participants taking part in the accredited training programmes which are funded by Dublin and Dun Laoighaire Education Training Board.

While there, Mayor Conroy gave a brief overview of the origin of the chain of office before embarking on a tour of Threshold’s new garden, where vegetables and plants are being grown.

The garden initiative was funded through the REACH grant, leaning into studies showing the benefits between mental health and gardening.

Benefits of the book club and Cuppa Coaching programme were on full display with participants detailing how their lives had changed since attending Threshold. The visit gave an overview of all of the different services and workshops provided through Threshold to Mayor Conroy and was “filled with chat and stories”.
