Louise’s tragic death is ‘a massive loss to us all’

A BITTER-sweet celebration will take place on Saturday to mark what should have been the official wedding day for a young mother.

Louise McClean-Hannan (31), a Ballyfermot resident and mother-of-one, sadly passed away on March 5 after an illness she battled since 2018, came back aggressively.

Family and friends at the fundraiser last year with Louise

Just 12 months ago, Louise spoke to The Echo after raising over €5,000 for the ARC Cancer Support Centres - an event she organised with neighbours and close friends Lisa-Ann Lennon and Danielle Deegan.

At the time, Louise was keen to emphasise the amazing community support they received for the successful family day fundraiser on Colepark Drive.

Louise wanted to raise funds for the ARC centre on South Circular Road because she found it beneficial during her recovery.

“It is more about awareness of the ARC and to let people know that life goes on and there is help out there,” said Louise in July 2020.

Louise who sadly passed away

Speaking to The Echo at the time, she did not wish to go into much detail about her treatment, lest it upset her daughter Leigha.

In February, Louise’s cancer came back extremely aggressive and she was taken into hospital but sadly passed away within four weeks.

Louise was due to marry her partner Paul Hannan on June 19, but the couple tied the knot in hospital.

“It’s a massive loss to us all,” said Lisa-Ann.

“Myself and Danielle who ran the fun day with Louise last year had agreed to do it again this year. So, it’s going to be bigger and better. In memory of Louise, a celebration of what would have been the date she was to be married, and support for ARC.

“Louise turned 31 while in hospital. The event in Saturday is going to be both happy and sad. Hopefully the weather is not raining. Once the kids’ activities wrap up, we will have a few drinks for Louise.”

A message on RIP.ie said Louise (late of Colepark Drive, Le Fanu Road, Ballyfermot and the Post Office), dearly loved wife of Paul and loving mother of Leigha, sadly missed by her heartbroken husband, daughter, sisters Sharon, Tina and Lisa, Mam Tina, Dad Pepe, Grandmother Lilly, mother-in-law Paula, extended family and many friends.
