‘Lovely walk’ from Bohernabreena only took about an hour and a half

Several engaging physical activities were held in the locality over the weekend to encourage women and young girls to be active.

Her Outdoors Week, which took place from August 12 to August 18, aimed to celebrate and encourage more females to get out and enjoy the benefits of being in the outdoors.

One of the activities organised at the weekend was a mountain walk beginning in Bohernabreena at 11.20am on Saturday.

“The walk was organised by us and led by DMP [Dublin Mountains Partnership] who met us at the bus stop at Tallaght Luas stop. We utilised the new local SD04 route up to Bohernabreena,” said Helen Dwyer, Community Sports Development Officer who organised all the Her Outdoors activities.

Sixteen women completed the walk which took approximately 1½ hours.

“It was a lovely walk, lots of wildlife along the way. Most of the women didn’t know about the new local bus and also wouldn’t be used to mountain walking, so it was a great introduction for all,” said Helen.

The Her Outdoors programme was a Sport Ireland funded initiative.
