Lucan Community College granted extension

Lucan Community College will receive a long-awaited extension, following a decision by South Dublin County Council to grant planning permission.
The original proposal sought the construction of a new building to accommodate a special education needs unit, a PE hall, a teaching space and associated ancillary works.
Writing on Facebook, Fine Gael councillor William Lavelle confirmed the news. He said: “I am very happy to report that SDCC has granted planning permission for the long-awaited and much-needed extension to Lucan Community College.
As Chairman of the Board of Management of LCC, I wish to thank Wejchert Architects and all the design and project management team for bringing the project to this very important milestone. I also wish to thank the entire school community - Principal Ms. Birnie, teachers, parents association and students - for their support for the campaign for our extension.
The Lucan councillor also posted photos of blueprints of the extension.
The proposed extension would ultimately remove all prefabricated buildings on the school site.
The application also proposed the construction of 92 permanent car-parking spaces and 100 bicycle spaces.
