
Lucan District Credit Union celebrates 50th anniversary

LUCAN District Credit Union recently celebrated its 50th year.
To mark the occasion the Credit Union held a prestigious black-tie event in the Spa Hotel.

Many of the original founding members attended, along with then Mayor of South Dublin, Paul Gogarty [Cllr Gogarty has since handed the chains of office over to newly elected Mayor, Cllr Mark Ward] and councillors Vicki Casserly and Emer Higgins.
Cllr Higgins told The Echo: “ I was honoured to attend the Lucan District Credit Union’s 50th anniversary Ball this weekend with my colleague Cllr Vicki Casserly.
"Its CEO Paula Maguire sure knows how to throw a party. I’d like to formally congratulate Chairman Enda Lee, Vice-Chair Mary O’Neill, Operations Manager Pat Derwin, all the staff, board and founding members on a fabulous celebration and 50 successful years supporting families and charities across Lucan.”
Cllr Casserly told The Echo that she knows how valuable the credit union is for the community.
She said: “ On top of the loans they provide to local residents, the Credit Union also supports many of us with our fundraising efforts.
“Lucan Credit Union has been a big supporter of Team James and our Barretstown fundraising, and I was delighted to support them as they marked their 50th anniversary.”
