
Lucan Harriers masters medal in provincials
LUCAN Harriers Athletic Club was not short of honours by the close of this season’s Leinster Masters Outdoor Championships on Sunday, bagging five gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
Pat O’Dwyer emerged a double gold winner following victories in the M45 3000m Steeplechase and Javelin, while Breda Smyth followed suit in the W45 1500m and W35 4x100m Relay for which she linked up with Carol Kearney, Claire Johnston and Edith Coakley.

What’s more, she also picked up silver in the W45 800m while Carol Kearney topped the podium in the W50 200m with a time of 29.52 before bagging silver in the W50 400m.
Among the other medal winners for the club in this competition were Claire Johnston (bronze in the W35 200m), Derek Lynch (bronze in the M40 800m) and Ben Prenter (bronze in the M45 Weight for Distance).
Elsewhere in the Irish Life Health All-Ireland Schools Finals in Tullamore the day before, Lucan’s Hannah Moriarty leaped to a silver medal in the Long Jump.
Representing her school Kings College, she was one of only two athletes to clear the 5m mark with a distance of 5.5m.
